Event hosted by the Verband für Nachhaltigkeits- und Umweltmanagement e.V. (Association for Sustainability and Environmental Management, VNU)

October 26, 2023, Grand Hotel Sofia, Sofia, 9:30 AM – 4:00 PM

PROGRAM:

This year's Environmental and Sustainability Managers' Day revolves around the diverse aspects of SUSTAINABILITY in the industry.

HYDROGEN: THE LOW-CARBON INDUSTRY OF THE FUTURE

Industrial hydrogen as a driver of structural change: Leading speakers from industry and academia will inform you about the current technical applications of hydrogen in the industry and how it can be used as an energy storage medium for renewable energy sources.

REFRIGERANTS AS SIGNIFICANT SOURCES OF GREENHOUSE GASES: TECHNICAL SOLUTIONS FOR THEIR SAFE RECOVERY

This thematic focus will introduce methods for the proper and legal recovery of refrigerants from the refrigeration, air conditioning, and heat pump systems of stationary installations. Integrated and specialized approaches to refrigerant recovery are essential for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and protecting the environment.

SUSTAINABILITY REPORTING PRACTICES (THE CURRENT GLOBAL REPORTING INITIATIVE (GRI) AND FUTURE EUROPEAN STANDARDS)

The G4 guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative are the most widely used framework for sustainability reporting worldwide. They are being replaced by the GRI Sustainability Reporting Standards. The principles and requirements of G4 are carried over unchanged in the new standards, but changes in structure and presentation make them much more user-friendly. The presentation will focus on these changes, presented from a practical perspective.

QUANTIFICATION AND VERIFICATION OF EMISSIONS IN A GHG BALANCE: A BOOK WITH SEVEN SEALS?

Global warming is increasing at a rate that requires immediate action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions (GHG), especially CO2. This applies to companies of all sizes and industries. ISO Standard 14064 provides clear guidelines and requirements for quantifying and verifying emissions in a GHG inventory, both at the organizational and project levels.
