The representatives of the Bulgarian city of Plovdiv had invited to the Forum "Low Emission Zones" on 27.01.2022 - an invitation that was accepted by a great number of experts in the field of environmental protection and environmental technology.

Techniques for measuring air quality – knowledge-transfer from Leipzig to Plovdiv

On January 27, 2022, an online forum entitled “Low Emission Zones – Best Practices and Ideas” was held in the Bulgarian municipality of Plovdiv, organized by the city’s representatives, in which INNO-CON GmbH had the opportunity to participate with its own presentation.

The event was attended by representatives of over 150 institutions, business associations and non-governmental organizations. As the Deputy Mayor for Environmental Protection, Mr. Timchev, explained, this is the first forum in a series of events aimed at sustainable improvement of living conditions in Plovdiv. Plovdiv aims to become the city with the highest quality of life in Bulgaria and wants to achieve this, among other things, through the planned low-emission environmental zones.

The forum was personally opened by the city’s mayor, Mr. Zdravko Dimitrov, who welcomed the participants and guests and focused on the municipalities’ clean air policies and the role of institutions and companies in achieving sustainable results.

Engineer Heiko Schmidt – Managing Director of INNO-CON GmbH – and Senior Consultant Doychin Todorov presented the company’s experience in performing tasks related to air quality measurement, as well as analysis and modeling of the obtained data. The role of measurements as a part of the management decision-making process and sustainable management of low-emission zones was particularly emphasized. INNO-CON Ltd. shared its relevant project experience gained in this field in Bulgaria since 2015.

Mr. Lukasz Franek (Municipality of Krakow), Mr. Sokratis Dimitriadis (Deputy Mayor for Environment of Thessaloniki), Ms. Rumyana Galabova (Municipality of Sofia), Mr. Plamen Panchev (Founder of the Economic Zone “Trakia”) and Mr. Svetoslav Benchev (Bulgarian Oil and Gas Association) also participated with presentations on the topic.
